Stains II

Similar to Ink, showing around the eyes and at the tips of wings and tails, but can be any natural color EXCEPT for black. In its dominant form, it can extend toward mid-wing/tail, and foot-feathers. This is the only marking that can be saturated red without being modified by Cardinal.

Shape & Coverage

(nSt) Stains covers the tips of wings and the eyes at the very minimum. It can also present on the feather tips of both tails.

Dominant Only

Dominant

(StSt) Dominant Stains can cover all of these regions, as well as the legs and all of the feathers of the wing.

Dominant Stains, also optionally with a Cardinal red color applied.

Feather Mutation Coverage

Stains can extend to cover the edges of feathers on appropriate feather mutations, including Seraph and Tendril, and Crest, as well as the feather horns on Horned stryx and the various crests on Royal stryx.

stains-seraph

Seraph

So far, Stains can optionally present on Seraph wings on Avians only. The Seraph mutation on Chiro and Lycan stryx are not necessarily extensions, and therefore are not the edge of the wing and out of range.

Non-dominant Stains (nSt) can cover up to half the feather, and Dominant Stains (StSt) can cover the entirety of the longest row of feathers. The seraph coverage shown replaces the normal coverage allowed on legs.

stains-tendril

Tendril

Stains can optionally present on the long Tendril feather. The maximum nondominant coverage lines up with the same coverage of the normal feathers. Refer to the full coverage guides if unsure!

Notes

  • Stains should not cover the middle of the face like Mask
  • Stains MUST show around the eyes, even on top of genes like Hood and Eclipse– the only exceptions are Velvet stryx and Bald Heads.
  • Stains cannot produce unnatural shapes, such as elaborate swirls.

Edges, Blending & Texture
