Dunstripe (nDn, DnDn)

A darker or lighter stripe running down the spine of the Stryx.

Shape & Coverage

Dunstripe produces a continuous line running down the spine of the stryx. At minimum, the marking should affect torso and neck, and at maximum it may run from the forehead all the way down the tail, but not extending to the distal tail’s flight feathers.

Dominant

Dominant Dunstripe (DnDn) adds an optional second stripe on top of the first stripe. The secondary stripe must be a natural color lighter or darker than the primary stripe, and must be entirely enclosed by the primary stripe.

When a color modifier is applied to dominant Dunstripe, it may modify one or both stripes.

Dunstripe Accent Stripes

Dunstripe may also present with 1-3 additional vertical stripes originating from the main stripe. These stripes may appear anywhere between the shoulders and the tail tip.

If there are multiple stripes, they must be clustered in the same area, like shown below. They should be fairly short, and should never reach past the stryx’s midline (in other words, accent stripes should not be more than halfway down the side of the body).

Notes

  • Dunstripe must always show on top of markings like Blanket, Sable, and Saddle, and as well as Silver when it covers the back like Sable would.

Edges, Blending & Texture

To avoid resembling Sable or Saddle, Dunstripe should have a distinct edge. It may be very gently softened, but the marking cannot extend past the given coverage.

It cannot be blended along the sides, but may fade out at either end.
